Dr. Ortmann is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He received his B.S. in Biology from the University of South Carolina where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He received his M.D. degree from the University of New Mexico where he graduated with honors and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
He completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Palmetto Health Richland/University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.Dr. Ortmann completed his fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Brown University Orthopaedics in Providence, Rhode Island.His training focused on advanced techniques in hand, wrist, elbow, and microvascular surgery.
He joined GreensboroOrthopaedicCenter in August 2007 and is Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Ortmann’s non-professional interests include spending time with his family, golf, tennis, and basketball. He is married to the former Palmar Ellen Plonk of Winston-Salem, and they have two children, Rollins Elizabeth and Fred William Ortmann, V.
