Dr. Norris is a native of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
He received his B.S. in biology from Duke University which he attended on a United States Army R.O.TC. Scholarship. He received his M.D. Degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Following a general surgery internship, Dr. Norris completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He gained extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma at Gradv Memorial Hospital and Egleston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Norris served on active duty as an orthopaedic surgeon in the United States Army from 1998 to 2002. While assigned to Womack Army Medical Center at Ft. Bragg, N.C., he served as Chief of the Orthopaedic Surgery Service from 2000 to 2002. Dr. Norris deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Dr. Norris joined Greensboro Orthopaedic Center in 2002 and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of orthopaedic Surgeons.
His non professional interests include family, hiking, camping, golf and tennis. He is a member of Lawndale Baptist Church and participates in Bible Study Fellowship. Dr. Norris is married to the former Jane Anne Balbach and they have three sons John Roland, William Edward, and Daniel Rosswell.
